Just For Fun

Because small business owners are people too.

We need diversions as our subconscious mind solves the dilemma(s).

    • Take advantage of every good day – squeeze the productivity out of every good day because those days will come when your head feels more like a cinder block than a free flowing thoughtful, creative, inventive organism.  This too (bad days & good days) will pass.
    • Write every thought down
      • That one focused thought that occurs to you while your driving – pull over and write it down or record it while you’re driving – iPhone has a audio recorder
      • That one thought that occurs to you in the shower write it on the shower walls with a kid’s bath tub crayon
        • Bonus it will force you to clean the shower more often
    • Act on every piece of inspiration that comes to you
      • Again take advantage of those days when inspiration and creativity abound
        • Either act on it or write it down/record it for the future when you have time to act on it
        • Even the littlle things that you think won’t matter later
          • Action begets action and active minds equal happy minds
          • Working in the zone creates flow and flow is that momentary time when you’re just working away at your passion/inspiration unaware of the time or anything else
            • It’s such a state of bliss
          • Getting the words down or the rudimentary prototype out of your head and visualized is so helpful in giving you the momentum to keep going.
            • You can always edit or rearrange later
            • It doesn’t have to be good it just has to give you a starting point to get the gears lubricated and get the creative juices/vibes flowing
      • Let the bad days happen
        • Try to keep it together as much as possible remember the people around you love you and want to see you feeling better – respect their questions and concerns.  They are trying to help.
          • There are days when you just physically can’t talk or listen and that’s okay, but take advantage of the good days to let them no it is not them it is you and you will contact them when you can (and be sure to follow that up).
        • and recognize when it is a bad day vs. just not wanting to do the tasks in front of you
        • I find if I just can’t get off the couch as if my body is made of  bricks and it is physically hard to move  no matter the task (one that I normally love or an easy task like gathering the laundry – not even putting it into the washing machine yet) it is a bad day
          • On those days i even break the simple tasks into mini tasks (gather the laundry or even just laundry from one room – rest, place a load in the washing machine – rest, move the newly washed load to the dryer – rest, put another load of laundry into the washing machine – rest, etc
            • It may take a while but it works you finish the day knowing that something got accomplished despite feeling like a wretch
          • On those days I don’t watch tv when I’m resting I find it sucks me in and by the end of the day I haven’t got off the couch and I have nothing to show for the day I read and listen to relaxing music (cool jazz or Chopin [especially his nocturnals] – I find that Hayden, Mozart, or peppy jazz are irritating to me on those day)
            • There are some days that my head is also so full of information that I cannot take in any more – that’s when I nap, surf social media, and then finally if all else fails watch tv
